Hickman Mills Superintendent Retires

   Hickman Mills C-1 Superintendent Dr. Marge Williams has announced her retirement effective at the end of the 2011-12 school year. Dr. Everlyn Williams, associate superintendent of elementary schools, has been named deputy superintendent and will be the district’s superintendent in 2012-13.
   "Dr. Williams has shown tremendous leadership ability and will do a wonderful job of leading the district," superintendent Williams said.
   Casey Klapmeyer, principal at Burke Elementary School, will be the new associate superintendent of elementary schools.
   "Since coming to Burke five years ago, Mr. Klapmeyer has a done an outstanding job of building scholars and creating a wonderful learning atmosphere," Dr. Williams said.
   Deb Fortner was named interim principal at Burke, replacing Klapmeyer.
   “Change is never easy, however, making these changes now, I believe, will make the transition much smoother and insure continued success in the Hickman Mills C-1 School District,” Superintendent Williams said. Dr. Marge Williams has been in education for 37 years, the last 19 in the Hickman Mills C-1 School District including the last 12 as superintendent.
